2008
The new year will bring the NHS Alumni Association
into its 14th year of existence, and we are looking forward once again to a
banner year. To all of our members who have been involved, either actively or
by attending one of our four annual socials, we say thanks for taking part,
and we'd love to have you even more involved next year. We would welcome any
of you to become active, even if you don't like attending meetings. Most of
our committees meet separately and only occasionally for specific purposes.
And to those alumni who are not yet members, why not
join us? We offer three free socials each year, our Teacher Honor Roll wine
and cheese in March, our summer picnic in July and our Christmas Party in
December, plus our annual Wall of Honor dinner in the fall. We have a very
active scholarship program and we offer a quarterly newsletter which lets our
members know what's going on, including reunion information. It's just $10 for
annual dues. Send a check to: NHSAA, PO Box 493, Norwalk, CT 06852-0493 with
your name, maiden name if applicable, address, email address, class and phone
number and you're in.
With an energetic and dedicated staff, the NHS Alumni
Association will forge ahead in 2008 and our wish is that you, too, will move
forward in your own endeavors during the new year. Good Luck!
As the name implies, The Norwalk High School Alumni
Association is an organization of former attendees of NHS spanning from the
earliest days of the school right up to last year's graduates.

We have graduated
exceptionally gifted students who have gone on in their careers to excel as
noted industrialists, prominent lawyers and politicians and professional
athletes. How about accomplished artists and learned educators...and
respected medical professionals. If may surprise you to know that a number of
persons matriculated at NHS before going on to be awarded Pulitzer and Nobel
Prizes and the NBA Basketball Hall of Fame. And we would be remiss if we
failed to honor our Bona Fide war heroes. |
 |
Many people are unaware of
our Impressive Roster. This is one of the reasons that, in 1994, a handful of
proud Norwalk citizens came together to form the NHS Alumni Association. To
commemorate the outstanding achievements of former NHS graduates. To
recognize those special individuals who have brought fame and fortune to
themselves, to their Alma Mater, and of course, to the community as a whole.
|
 |
A "Wall of Honor" has been
established in a prominent section of the NHS main lobby. Handsome plaques
displaying a portrait and brief biography of each honoree, are arranged for
viewing by visitors, and as motivation and inspiration for today's students.
Click on the Honorees Link in our Index to see pictures and brief bios of the
distinguished graduates already selected. And we add to the list every year.

Speaking of students, the
NHSAA established a scholarship program in 1998 to provide financial
assistance to deserving graduates in order to assist in their quest for higher
education, fame and fortune. |
 |
And the Teacher Honor Roll
honors outstanding and dedicated teachers. A plaque has been erected at the
school honoring educators who, after graduating from NHS, have gone on to
distinguish themselves within the Norwalk Public School system. To find out
more visit the
Teacher Honor Roll page.

 |
In addition to the above
activities, throughout the year there are opportunities for social gatherings
and reunions with former classmates and friends. |
 |
To provide information on
current activities of the Alumni Association, a newsletter is mailed to
members' homes on a quarterly basis. |
 |
And with this Website, a
new opportunity arises to reestablish relationships and disseminate
information throughout the world. By registering yourself in the "Virtual
Yearbook", you can reach, or be reached by, classmates around the world. The
site promises to become a clearinghouse for Class and Reunion sites and data
gathering worldwide. |
 |
And all this for only $10.00
annual dues.
